makotocluv
by Makoto Enda
choreographer, dancer

Makotocluv was founded by Makoto Enda in 2001. Wearing their trademark training jerseys, the company has performed on the street or inside buildings, rains, cinemas, shopping malls and stores. Makotocluv records these environmental performances and incorporates them into their live stage shows, resulting in and often comic revelation about day-to-day life and movement. The company currently has six members and has received many awards, including the “2005 Dance Bazaar Grand Prize and the Audience Award” at the “2006 Toyota Choreography Awards”. Makoto Enda, (choreographer/dancer) began his performance career in composer Mizushima Kazue’s early theatrical works in 1992, and joined ‘Kim Itoh + Glorious Future’ at its founding in 1995, performing in most of its national and overseas bookings. As a company’s original work, they created Nipponia Nippon (04) and Reason Region (06) etc. Nipponia Nippon was presented in the show case at Japan Society NY, 2008. At that time, they received a review in New York Times noting that “they are wonderfully fluent in the language of the theater.”
